Enjoying learning new tunes....aint nuthin better!!
Thursday, May 24, 2012 @10:28:56 AM
Just got done with "Jimmy Sutton" "Fortune" and also just last night I finished up on "Mississippi Sawyer" The next tune I am tackling right now is "Polly Put The Kettle One" but after this one I think I will hold off a bit and focus on getting these 4 tight now that I have them learnt. I kinda feel like I am on a bit of a "learning leap" after just coming off of a kinda plateau period and focusing on right-hand technique....it sure is nice! The only bad thing....cold weather is moving in here in Argentina and today my hands are really cold and stiff!
My wife is doing well...as is my unborn son. He is at 30 weeks gestation now and getting big...kicking up a storm...so only about 10 weeks or so to go now!!

Learning new tunes is like the proverbial "box of chocolates"... each has it own flavor and texture. I feel i learn something from each tune ... and once i have the bones of the tune... it's fun to come back to it months later and add touches. Yup... it sure keeps it fresh and interesting! |

Give in Erik... give in... perhaps... a call to The Chuckster for a Kentucky themed custom fretless??? Oh... thanks to you... or more accurately NO thanks to you... i did a ... (it's so hard to say)... a ... "vocal" this morning. I stayed up LATE last night watching YouTube stuff... and landed on some early Neil Young... then watched the 5 part A&E Bio series on him. Before finally going to bed, worked out a banjer interpretation of Old Man. That NORMALLY would have been the end of it... but no... noppers.... ol' Erik had to bait me by playin' "the sky's the limit card"! So whist slumbering... i imagined i could "sing" a wee bit... and darned if i didn't get up this morning and embarass myself. 'Course, I recorded it for your morbid amusement... but will wait 'till tomorrow to upload it... giving me time to come to my senses. Grrrr!!! |

There's a discussion forum thread on Pisgah, which i assume u already knows about... started by JBalch (a very accomplished player)... and an Ebay listing for one... but not a fretless. Hey Erik... i think there might just be somethin' mo' better than "new tunes"... and it's... (wait for it)... new banjers!!! Well... hmmm... guess i'll be a-uploadin' that Neil Young cover... but warning... take a couple aspirin fer ya' listen! |
