Pat myself on the back...

Wednesday, January 02, 2008 @10:13:26 PM

I got an email today from one of the department chairs.  She sent it to my immediate supervisor and cc'd a whole bunch of important people, like her dean, my director, and even the college provost.  It was a thank you for my help during finals week dealing with a conflict (two exams scheduled in the same room).

I feel kind of funny about it.  I mean, that's my job.  And there's a part of me that kind of feels like I should have caught the conflict before it was discovered five minutes before the exam was scheduled.  But I guess I'm not going to argue with her about it.

And I just got a follow up email from the provost thanking me for my work.

Cool

Way to go Jennifer. The difference is that you got the problem fixed. A lot of people, even if it is their job, don't seem to be able to do that. I got thanked a lot for doing what I thought was my job while I was still working. I couldn't understand that. Then I became a first level manager and found out how many people didn't even do their jobs, much less do them well.
Good work. Keep it up.

Congrats on that one Jennifer, it always helps when people recognize you for doing a good job!

Good for you!  It's nice to be recognized even if it's for something we're "supposed" to do. I think if others would spend a little more time recognizing a job well done by someone else and commenting on it, there would be a lot more people content and happy with what they do. Keep up the good work!

Enjoy the praise, even if undeserved.

You'll sure as shipments be given some blame you don't deserve, and this might help balance it.
