After many requests "hey come play your banjo" here or there, I've been working for some time on a "banjo show" I call ONE MAN BANJO. It's really modeled after all the amazing guitar players and cool singing in so many live music venues we've all seen...except I'm doing NO AMAZING GUITAR playing or cool singing. :)

I am though playing a tribute of sorts to a variety of banjo songs and players-- either solo, or with tracks. And really been having a blast doing it. It certainly has been a lot of work, but a labor of love for sure.

Best lesson over the last 5 years...PLAY EVERY DAY! Keep a banjo out of the case and on the stand. My goal is to play every day...even though I don't play every day, I play lots more days than I ever have before. And that has made a huge difference in my playing, learning, timing, etc.

A couple years ago this would have seemed almost impossible for a player like me, but thanks to the Hangout, BHO friends, teachers, and encouragement from many others, I'm now a "professional" banjo player. Doing something I love (playing for other people) even when you can't seem to get the band all together.

Even if you're a beginner (which really described me just a few years ago) you can set some banjo goals and be amazed at what can happen when you begin moving in that direction and commit to getting better. It's not about TIME (we all get the same amount...24/7), it's really about TIME MASTERY and what's important to you.
