banjo and lesson

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 @4:00:25 PM

i just had my first banjo lesson! turns out, i know more than i thought i did. it went really well. i am also building a new banjo. i bought a couple pieces of curly maple (beautiful wood). ive just posted a pic of my peghead design, a cross between an old paramount and an old orpheum. i also have the inlays for the peg head cut out. didnt really know what i was going to do until it was done. it will look even better once it is set into the ebony overlay.

     comments welcome.

i dont think i have enough abalone to continue with this design on the fretboard. we'll have to see how that goes. may have to get more or make due with what ive got. trying to make a new but classic looking design.

will post more as i progress.
