Modern 5-String Banjo Method is a new book I have with Mel Bay Publications.  It is modeled after the Modern Guitar Method also from Mel Bay.  It is somewhat a non-stylistic approach to learning the banjo.  It has a lot of emphasis on the basics of the banjo as an instrument rather than just a bluegrass or old time instrument.  I like it a lot.  Also see my web site for further information.

Getting Into Bluegrass Banjo has been out for some time.  It is my best shot at explaining how bluegrass banjo playing works and offers a different approach to understanding the style.
