Also some friends from southern Ontario who may not be as famous, but I learn something every time I play with them or listen to them: Jay Edmonds, Rick Baur, Dennis Delorme, Karen Taylor, Kate Jarrett, Sam Allison and Teilhard Frost (who also builds wonderful gourd banjos)...

You will notice that all of these (except John Hartford, whose playing I have loved since I first bought Morning Bugle thirty years ago) are old-time banjo players, since this is the type of banjo music I enjoy playing. I have many favourite musicians who play 3-finger/bluegrass style banjo (like Al Kirby) and tenor banjo and who play other instruments, but if I put them all down the list would be too long for anyone to bother to read it anyway. I realize that some of the players I have listed are also bluegrass players, but their old timey style was what attracted me to their playing.

Novice on the computer

Friday, March 02, 2007 @3:50:48 PM

I don't own a computer, but use the Public Library computers when I need one. I therefore haven't figured out how to put a photo in the spot that says "photo not available" and also don't know how to put music on my page. To hear a bit of my music, listen to When You And I WereYoung Maggie on Jazzy Al's page. I'm the clawhammer guy and Al's the three finger guy. Our friend Zeke Mazurek is playing the fiddle.

Jim, you can upload pictures from a floppy or a CD as well as a hard drive to www.tinypic.com for free, anonymously, on any computer that will allow uploads.  The tinypic site will give you the URL or link text necessary to upload the pic to your BH homepage.  I believe you can upload music the same way.  But you have to be able to save the picture (or music) in order to do it.

If the library allows, you can find the pic you want on the 'net, save to the hard drive (or floppy or CD), and access it that way.
