right hand problems

Wednesday, May 30, 2012 @7:26:29 AM

I have had my right hand just about suddenly shut down. My pinkie finger wants to draw up under my hand while i play. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Rocky

Well does it cause you any pain or discomfort, if it does I would go see a doctor, it's possible that you might have something that could be cured by medication, if not it could be that you are trying to pick too hard or too fast and this will cause you to lock up in a manner of speaking. I have experanced that before and generally it comes from playing too fast, but there could be other reasons too.

Yes it does. I have gone to a couple of hand doctors but to no avail. i am going to try some type device to try to get it to stay planted.

thanks

I have a friend that has a nerve problem and it causes his hand not to function correctly and he had to quit playing for a while until he got better, not sure that it's the same thing but he is on he hangout, if I remember he is called Renoplayer or somethinlike that, his name is Jason Skinner and he is in my friends, you might what to ask him. Good luck.

I think I'd try taping the pinkie to the ring finger for starters. I don't keep mine planted, just the ring finger.I don't think it affects my playing. You probably have "trigger finger" or something similar.I talked to a guy last weekend who had successful surgery for trigger finger on his middle finger.

i cant play with the just the ring finger planted. i learned with a pinkie plant and thats the way it has always worked. It seems that i may have to try and retrain my hand for a thouroughly different hand position.

thanks, Rock
