help needed in identifying my american 4 string banjo

I bought an american banjo, 5 years ago, from a good music shop on ireland.
It was 60 years old, value 2000 euro. i got it for 1600 euro.
Beautiful Instrument, heavy. The shop seller gave me all the history of it verbally. but he died since, so I need help in identifying it.
It has no name, but a metal silver shield on the top vetween the pegs.
Can anybody tell me the make? or it's value.
