4th Gig of 2012-Murfreesboro Farmers Marker, Murfreesboro, TN Aug 25, 2012

Sunday, August 26, 2012 @7:59:45 AM

Hello Friends,

Ole Mule Head talking to you here. About 26 years ago, a very skilled banjo player named Clark Buehling showed me how to do the basic clawhammer strum on the steps of a side entrance of the old courthouse in Murfreesboro, TN. This was during an Uncle Dave Macon festival back when they used to have them downtown on the square. Currently every Saturday the city has a farmer's market event on this same square where vendors and farmers can sell their wares. Sometimes musicians also show up and perform on and around the courthouse lawn. With some prodding from my wife, I contacted the event organizer and obtained permission to come do my thing. So yesterday (Aug 25, 2012) I played and sang for about two hours on the back side of the courthouse grounds less than 75 feet from where I first learned to play my style. For some reason only a few people came up to listen and talk with me on this day, but I was happy to get more practice playing in front of people. It did turn out to be a paying gig for me though. When I was packing up my instruments, one congenial man came up and gave me a dollar. I am grateful for his considerate act, and I am going to post that dollar on my wall as the first dollar earned in my entertainment business. :)

Cool Mulehead! Had I known in advance; I would have tried hard to be there. Playing on the square where Uncle Dave played has to be a Kick! Danny

Thanks for the comment, Danny. Next time I go I will let you know before hand. I am looking forward to meeting you in person and hearing you play in person.
