3 Rivers Bluegrass Day

Saturday, June 16, 2012 @4:25:40 PM

I attended the 3 Rivers Arts Festival Bluegrass day at Point State Park Saturday. Got to talk with Jim Scott of Midnight Drive. He is a self-taught musician, first learned guitar then mastered banjo. And I do meam mastered! He took time after their set to show me his Gibson Mastertone.

Everyone in the band was both very talented and very personable. KDKA-TV did a feature on them the Thursday before, the link is right here:

Peter Rowan's band was also very good, and offered a nice version of Midnight Moonlight. But Del McCoury was the highlight of the evening. His band did 1952 Vincent and played for 1 1/2 hour.

Hey Dave,

I went to the festival as well, Del singing "Cold Rain and Snow" blew my socks off.

I'll give you a call about gettin' you behind that 75

Mack
