Its a Reliance No10, i dont know what it should be tuned to or how much its worth( wouldnt sell it anyway) so if any one could tell me what my banko is it would be apreciated. its a 4 string mandolin banjo, i think it has 20 frets assuming thier the silver bars below the strings.

Monday, November 02, 2009 @4:40:26 AM

Hey! I Inherited a Reliance No10 , 4 string, Mandoline banjo today from my grandad who has just passed away! I would love to be able to play it, more for my dad then me. He as a boy growing up heard his dad playing this banjo and itd be nice if i could learn it too. im rele willing and 100% commited, iv spent hours on the internet already researching but it all looks very hard! i think my banjo hasnt been picked up in around 20 years so its probably out of tune and in need of abit of tlc but has all 4 strings so im going to give it a shot. if anyonee out there can help me, teach me, give me advice or info on my banjo! id be very gratefull. thankss

There's a ton of information on this website. Look around in the forums. Sounds like you are starting from scratch.

Not to worry there are plenty of smart alecs in this bunch that will be proud to tell you how much they know and, in some cases, how little you know.

Enjoy learning the banjo. It's lots of fun and guaranteed to show you just who your real friends are!
