My Instruments: I am a plectrum banjoist, and endorse for OME banjos -- I love them & have two. By the way, that "Banjo Experience Level" multiple choice question is bothersome.... I am definitely a "professional." An "expert?" There is ALWAYS more to learn! But I do aspire to keep growing....
Favorite Bands/Musicians: Too many to list!!! Ranging from Elmer Snowden (my banjo hero!) to Beatles to Bela to Django to Bonnie Raitt to Tom Waits to Tiny Grimes to Hank WIlliams.... and so many more...

new CD, JOYRIDE almost finished...
Thursday, July 26, 2012 @12:47:48 PM
I've been working on my new CD, "JOYRIDE" for about 10 months. First on the arrangements -- I am not a fast arranger, and for me it's both a challenging and a deeply rewarding part of the creative process. Then it was an incredibly difficult to find days in common for the extremely busy players I was using to get it recorded! But where there's a will, there's a way -- it all finally worked out. The editing is finished and about half the tunes are now mixed -- hoping the rest will be done within the next few days. It's good to hear it all come together! The next step is having it mastered, and then manufactured as well as digitally distributed. I expect it will be available around late September/early October -- and am proud to already be receiving some pre-release orders! (that option will be set up on my website in August) .
I also recently received the cover art, and love it! The design part of this process is always fun. A few banjo players have already commented that the banjo depicted is not accurate to my instrument -- very true, but I"m ok with it. Since it shows me riding a Vespa on the streets of NYC minus a helmet, with my banjo sans case strapped to my back, it's not a realistic depiction to begin with :-) But I think it conveys the spirit of the recording just right. My agenda with JOYRIDE is to express what it feels like when playing with great musicians and everything clicks -- you know what I mean.
