My Instruments: culled the herd way down - at one point I owned 35 banjos at once but currently all I have are a Ramsey Student, a Mogi "Knockabout" fretless and a few tenors. I've owned all sorts of wonderful 5 string banjos from Vega Whyte Laydies to Ome Silverspun Jubilees - and all sorts of tone rings in between. I did not enjoy playing any of them as much as I enjoy playing those two banjos I have left. They're all I need.

Favorite Bands/Musicians: J.S. Bach I can listen to all day long.
Ragtime is close behind but it has to be REAL Ragtime - unaccompanied piano is best
Other than that I like varying dosages of all sorts of music.

I started playing the banjo in early 2004 after seeing a Goodime banjo hanging in the window of a music store in Westerly, Rhode Island. The shop was closed but the banjo piqued my interest.
When I got home, as I recall, I googled "Goodtime banjo" and, lo and behold, I stumbled upon the Banjo Hangout. After reading all of the good things BHO members had to say about the Goodtime - I went back as soon as I could to Westerly and bought it.
I've been buying banjos and visiting the hangout ever since. In a very real sense my entire experience with learning to play the 5 string banjo and everything else I know about this wonderful instrument has been intertwined with my experience of the Banjo Hangout. It's a fantastic resource and I'm much indebted to it for helping me so quickly along the road from relative normalcy to becoming the obsessive/compulsive banjophile that I am today.
