Bourne in Asheville, NC in 1978 on the rainy cold day of December 1. Reared in the Cruso/Bethel Community of Haywood County NC. I attended Bethel elementary school and the Cruso United Methodist church. When I was this tender young age I was exposed to the guitar by my uncle and the love of music started then. I took up the violin in the 5th grade and played classical music for 7 years before I found my true love. I started playing the banjo in the 11th grade. Was influenced first by Earl Scuggs, then by the local hometown banjo hero, "Raymond Fairchild". Then as a senior in high school, I discovered J.D. Crowe and was blown away. At IBMA in 2000 I bought the 2nd Osborne Brothers box set and have been busy working on that stuff since then. While persuing a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, I took a hiatus from playing and learned to "listen" more to what was there in the music. Have recently started playing again as I will graduate in May.
