fellow member 'roll player' gave me some tips about bridges. he recommends recutting the string slots about 2mm, moving the bridge up towards the arm rest a little. Hope that's clear. i've tried on a couple of banjos and i think it works. it seemed to make the banjo sound generally better, a little louder and clearer. i wonder why the makers don't put the slots in that place to begin with.
i recently bought an 'archie' bart veerman bridge and put it on my deering maple blossom archtop. wow! it sounds great. louder, brighter, more poppy, more like that Ralph sound that i love.
