Favorite Bands/Musicians: I think my old-time banjo playing has been most influenced by the following examples, from whose recordings I have listened to slavishly, attempting to steal everything I possibly could; Wade Ward, Fred Cockerham, Franklin George, and Dock Boggs. Heath Curdts taught me a few tunes in person, and showed me some of the techniques that he learned from Tommy Jarrell. Other, influences that quickly come to mind include Morgan Sexton, Roscoe Holcomb, Mike Seeger, Bob Flesher, and R.D. Lunsford. Now that I am learning the fiddle (as of 2010), I have especially strong admiration for Tommy Jarrell, Posey Rorer, and perhaps, Billy Mathews.

Playing lots of music with our band the Cobb Stompers, practicing hard on the fiddle, and jammin' now with a local group. If you long for a local old time jam to get together with other musicians, start a group yourself on folkjam http://www.folkjam.org/ I did... http://www.folkjam.org/recurring-jam/us/ca/cobb/pick-strum-n-saw. Having lots of fun.
