I see what you mean! Literally. The skies aren't looking too good from here. Can't see Mt. Fuji or the Tanzawa mt. range. I'm not venturing out to the Lily Pickin' Party in Yokohama and risk the chance of a JR shut down on the return trip home. Guchol man, not me! In a few days it'll be our turn for the heavy-strong winds. Let's hope it turns and goes out to sea.

Not too bad now. The mountain range is in view. No wind, just still (meaning the trees) and cloudy. Enough for the weather report. Sorry about that. Good luck, Jay. I was on Okinawa in '62 - '63 and know what the storms are like there. How do your banjos and other instruments hold up in such high humidity? I guess you polish on a daily basis, don't you. On your skills, I know you do. But I mean on the metal work. (Trying to get a chuckle or two here.)

Steve, the banjos turn to crap if left in the case. I have restrung them, put them in the case in the summertime, opened the case a week later and due to humidity and temperature, most of the strings break. I now leave them out on Gruver wooden stands in my den, which gives them the benefit of being in a climate controlled environment. I polish now ever couple of months, wipe them down every day, but I've found in these conditions that keeping them out of the case is better for them than putting them in the case. They still look great! I'm in the office now working on getting MRE's distributed to the various camps for tomorrow and the next day, which looks like our window for Guchol. May get some time off at home to ride out the storm most of tomorrow and Tuesday, I just hope the electricity holds out. I'll keep everyone updated.

Yes, I know what you mean by keeping them, guitar and banjo, out of their cases in summertime to save the strings. Also, Jay, I buy packages of oil paper at the 100 Yen Shop then cut up a sheet or two in small, 5-1/2 cm by 6-1/2 cm, squares to wipe down my strings each and every evening before retiring. I keep the squares in a small plastic box and one square last a couple or few days. There're 12 sheets to a pack and each sheet is 220 mm x 270 mm is size. Good stuff, Jay, and I'm sure you have the same 100 Yen Shops there. Give it a try and I'm sure you'll find that it lengthen the life of your strings.

Well, it passed us right by during the night with only a few high gusts. This storm was moving so fast it didn't have time to effect us. Hope it doesn't impact you all up there on the mainland either.

That was no. 4. No. 5 is just behind!
