Redlands Bluegrass Festival

From newbie plucker on 5/9/2012 3:29:48 AM

The Redlands Bluegrass Festival is on 14-16 July, in Redlands, Brisbane.  They have jam sessions and lessons for beginners and more advanced players.  Has anyone booked a session or attended this festival?

I went there in 2010 and it was very, very good. Great concerts and very worthwhile workshops. Have some jamming standards ready to join in with. Some guys stayed up ALL NIGHT jamming. Yes. 24hrs non-stop after performing on stage. Anyone could join in. very informal.

Thanks for your comment Grahame. I've booked a class and jam session, will be a first for me. I've only played on my own and for family until now, it's going to be a big learning curve!

Yep. Going on Saturday. I live in the area (Beaudesert) and thought I might head over there for a look. I haven't been before.

Hi Justin. I'm southside Brisbane, so works for me too. I've booked for the Saturday, classes and beginner jam. Looking forward to it, but I sure hope the weather improves!

How's the festival going?
Make sure you give us a festival report when you get home.

I went once a couple of years ago. I would have gone another time but I couldn't find any details about when it was on so I could book the time off work and no one replied to my messages I left on the contact number I found. So I stayed home and worked.

Redlands is over for another year. The mud and rain didn't make a bit of difference. Great bands, jam sessions all night long and really worthwhile workshops. 10/10

Hey there newbie, for some reason the first email I got about another post in this thread was just now when Grum has posted. Didn't even get notified of Lone's post. Anyway, I'll add that I did indeed attend on the Saturday only and I had a ball. Hamish Davidson even had a pick of my banjo, which was great because I could actually hear what it sounds like from 'the other side' ha ha. I hope you got there and had a good time to. The bands performing were fantastic. It was a really enjoyable day, only part is because I was driving home which takes about an hour I left at 1am. I could've stayed all night and just played banjo! I'll certainly be heading along next year! Fingers crossed for no mud and rain though.

Hi Guys, Yes it was lots of fun, I'll be back next year. I did the beginner's jam, but it was for real newbies, so will do the intermediate next time. How good were the hamburgers !! :)
