The tritone scale is interesting. It is composed of two major triads a tritone apart. For the C tritone scale the major triads are the C and the F#. The C major tritone scale is C-C#-E-F#-G-A#, which is a fragment of the of the larger C half-whole diminished scale- (C-C#) D# (F#-G) A (A#-[C]). The scale itself could be used as a sort of pentatonic scale in that it has only six notes. A good pentatonic for the C tritone is the E major pentatonic. Starting at the third degree of C tritone scale, the E, play the E-F# but then bend up a half-tone the G and the A# and either the C as well or play the C#. This leads to E-F#-(G#)-(B)-and (C#) or plain C#. The realtive minor minor pentatonic scale Db starting with either the first degree bend (in the C tritone scale) or the second degree is followed by the E-F#-G bend, A# bend, or (C#) [C#] which is Db, E F#, (G#), and(B). Feel the power of tritones! Ron Frashure 1/17/00
