For Sale: 1939 Gibson TB-12 w/ 5-string neck

For Sale: a superb example of a 1939 TB-12. The pot is in excellent and very clean original condition. It has the great old flathead sound that is so desired. The 5-string conversion neck was made by Dick Powell in the early 1980's when the banjo was purchased from the original owner. Last year Robin Smith worked his magic on the conversion neck to make play like butter. Unfortunately the original tenor neck was discarded back in the 80's when the owner didn't think about its value in the future. The original amber tulip tuner buttons are on the 5-string neck, however. They are beautiful.

Buying this top tension banjo is the way to have your flathead without paying the price of a bottom tension version. I wasn't originally going to buy a top tension banjo, but once I played it I was smitten. I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I have. The banjo was inspected and appraised by Steve Huber in 2006. A Calton case is included.
