A fantastic heavy Japanese Fender "Leo Bluegrass" model. This model has the nice RB 250 style inlays, cast brass tone ring, mutiply pot, heavy hardware. The neck is dead straight, no fret wear, finish is in excellent shape. There is some rust and pitting on some of the hardware and yellowing on the binding, a bit of wood worn from the tip of the headstock on the back, and some missing felt from the resonator's neck area. Railroad spike at the 7th fret, not the cleanest job but works well.
This banjo has great balance, is loud with crisp tone. The overall fit is tight, solid and powerful, far superior to the modern imports.
The original case is pretty ratty inside but works fine. |
