Wow.

Lord have mercy.  I don't think I know of anything like that happening before, do you?  Never seen clouds like that.  Anybody who thinks we aren't seeing  unprecedented extreme weather has their head buried deep.

Mopick - Posted - 04/17/2012:  07:25:42

There has to be a lot of rotation for that kind of hail.  Those clouds are eerie!

KE - Posted - 04/17/2012:  07:30:18

I believe there were something like a couple HUNDRED tornados out of that storm.

Banjo - Posted - 04/17/2012:  10:03:27

A four foot wall of water went through the hospital ER.

Those clouds were astoundingly eerie but beautiful an their own way.

The pic doesn’t come close to showing what it looks like in real life.

The clouds are called  Mammatocumulus and have been observed and reported for centuries.Likewise, accumulations of hail as deep as 5'  on the level have been recorded in days long gone by.

There is no data that links tornado activity to climate versus weather. The IPCC IV report noted that the data did not indicate trends in small-scale phenomena such as tornadoes, hail, lightning and dust-storms.

KE - Posted - 04/17/2012:  10:55:18

Oh sure, that's what they'd like you to believe.  wink

Dagnabbit - Posted - 04/17/2012:  11:28:09

How very scientific!  Temperature records whose trends are evidenced almost or completely based on "adjustments" (which have proven to have significant flaws) are "settled" by the absurdist consensus claim. But documentation that forms the basis for consensus regarding tornados and hail, coming from the same people that are at the heart of the other consensus are indicative of some denialist conspiracy?

Got it.

KE - Posted - 04/17/2012:  11:56:12

Perhaps we could agree that it was a windy day -- with precipitation.

pandjlocke - Posted - 04/17/2012:  11:58:07

It does look like a hail of a storm!

We have seen clouds very similar to those coming up out of AL. But never any hail like that.
That is amazing.

Just think if we could harness all that energy, probably put a few nuke plants out of business lol j/k.

Paul, you are spot on.  It's all a big conspiracy and people are harnessing that energy.  You can read all about it right here (I actually have met the fellow running this thing; pretty amusing):

Doc, I'm not through watching all the videos.
I'm curious about your last statement pretty amusing. Is that indicating that you feel this is not real? Just wondering.
I remember hearing about cloud seeding way back in the 50 s.
I don't think I understood the first part about some disease? And the talk about weather wars? Is it thought that one country might try to change the weather approaching another?
I was thinking this might be another thread but it's really not far off this one I hope.
Help me understand this if you will.

Paul

yeah, I was kidding.  There is no real science behind these guys.  They are convinced the hurricanes are controlled by the Japanese with big fancy machines (but it doesn't really explain why they gave themselves a tsunami).  I'm a big fan of conspiracy theories. It keeps me amused.

Silly. It was our HAARP (The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) that caused the Tsunami!

I work with a guy who is always coming in and telling me, "They're up there spraying again."  He's talking about chem trails.   Ken believes it, but then again he believes Pro Wrestling is real.  He also thinks it wasn't commercial airliners that hit the towers and pentagon.  And the towers were imploded non knocked down by airplanes.

Yea that wouldn't be a very bright move.
This is interesting though. Maybe I'm enjoying it so much, cause this young guy looks so much like my oldest brother God rest his soul, , when he was younger.
He was a thinker a lot along the conspiracy lines, but by no means a fanatic, but he was a home brew experimental-ist as well as an engineer for Edison electric.
I can see where it's amusing for sure, but ain't you the one that likes to old B horror movies or do I have you mixed with another dog avatar? lol j/k
Thanks for the site, I'm being amused but I might be able to start a new religion after this. ;)

Paul, I'm laughing out loud.  Not only do I love old, crappy movies, I teach a course entitled 'the physics and physiology of b-grade horror movies'.   its actually a front for teaching science without letting the students know they're learning stuff (what a friend of mine calls 'sneaky prophylactic education').  Registration opened yesterday and the course filled in 20 minutes smiley.  Yeah, I teach 'real' courses in health professional programs, but my stupid movie course is my favorite.

I think that was a sleet storm . . . But if a particle hit you it would hurt like hail.

How did I know when there's been a storm with big hail?
When I could look up and see the sky through the holes in my cottage roof.

I'm so far north. we call those clouds cumulomammatus.
