Hello folks,
Say, does any one know who picked the five on Josh's "Lonesome Highway" record from Pinecastle, in particular on "Cold Virginia Rain"? Back when Josh was with Rhonda Vincent, Kenny Ingram did the picking on stage. I also know Josh picks the banjo a little bit, especially when he was younger.
Nowadays when Josh sings it, Jason McKendree plays the banjo for his band.
But does any one know? Please let me know.
Thank you.
~Craig

Wow, that was Kristin? I know she's put some tasty licks in her playing, but on that cut, she really put the bluesiness into it! Thank you, Kenny!
Your own version when you used to play with Rhonda is amazing, too! Great job as usual!
I'll be coming to see you in August this year, definitely, with Larry Stephenson. Your version of "Bear Tracks" is one of the best, especially when you have variations a little bit that differ from Jim Mills' version.
You are one of my heroes, Kenny, and I admire you inspire me to get up in front of an audience and pick at my best.
Thanks again, Kenny.

Pretty sure it would be her Gibson 3. That CD was recorded in 2003 I think so it been around a while.
The Beartracks thing was taken from J.D.'s version on the Lemco Ramblin Boy LP.

Thanks Kenny, I think I got my wires crossed, the c.d. I was thinking of is his latest one he has out with "It's a lonesome feeling" on it. I heard 3 or 4 cuts off of it on XM radio, I don't know who & what banjo they're playing but that banjo has some serious pre-war tone. If that's a new banjo on that c.d. I want one!

Brian...If you are referring to Josh's 2009 release, Down Home, I believe that would be Kenny on Lonesome Feeling and several others. Aaron McDaris, Greg Cahill and Josh himself also play cuts on the CD.

"That" CD of Josh's Down Home was recorded in Dec of 2006. It stayed in the unfinnished untill early 2009. And the banjo that CD is my KI Williams. It was less than 2 weeks old. That banjo is on Lonsome Feeling, Polka On The Banjo, Last Song, Streets Of Bakersfield. Josh is playing it Cherokee Shuffle. & Arron is playing it on We'll Burn That Bridge. I have a copy of the Pinecastle mix and thought it was great. Rounder bought that CD & remixed it. I haven't heard it so I don't know if they helped it, or hurt it.

Unbelievable! a new banjo! that's nice to know, I love the tone of that banjo but alot of that sound is coming from the people playing them on the c.d. Great job all the way around & thanks for the information Kenny! I'm gonna have to pick up a copy of that c.d.
