How do we know who the Mod is on the thread you are on. If you ask thru the " Report to Moderator" function they never answer. Would be nice when things start disappearing and changing.....you know who's doing it. Also, if you request the "Mod on Duty" to respond,,,,,shouldn't they?

There was a very important topic that has been going for a few days. It was was regarding concerns for Earl Scruggs' well being. Many of the poster's on there were close personal friends of Earl's. The topic was locked tonight by a moderator because a certain poster began personal attacks on a BHO member. Criticizing the content of his posts. The poster recieving the personal attacks was one of Earl's best friends for many years. It was evident the poster who was being so critical just wasn't comprehending the purpose of the discussion. I support everyone's right to speak their opinions, but reducing to personal attacks should not happen. As the old saying goes, If you don't like what you watching, change the channel. There are a lot of topics on the hangout that may have more met the approval of this particular individual. It's a shame it had to be locked because of this! Thanks.

I will again say this. The moderators do not have certain forums that they alone watch. We all watch all the forums so there is no moderator "on duty" at any certain time or on any certain thread. When I am on my computer I come here and read through things. I'm usually here several times in a day as are the rest of the mods. We all read the reports and if it needs an answer whoever reads it first usually responds. We can post in the report to tell each other what action we took or did not take. We generally do not respond to the person posting the report.

Billy, There is a difference between not comprehending and not caring. The poster in question has a "following" that seems to egg him on and he is only too happy to oblige. Sad....

Remember that the mods are volunteers; there are no "on duty" schedules. Nor do mods necessarily peruse even most posts. We respond to reports, of course, but don't always write individuals. I posted to the thread in question that I locked it. I'm easy enough to email. You can always start a new thread on the topic. Another thing to remember: if you want to address a personal comment to a poster, take it off-list in a PM. It's that back and forth of personal comments that gets threads locked.

Jazzy...I'm sorry you are so put out to respond....I have never heard it before but it does show how all MODS seem to overlook certain posters and hide...and chide the rest of us.

Bill,
I did e-mail you personally.....you have yet to respond to me personally .....I guess this will have to do

Bill,
Regarding the thread being discussed and the one you locked....you left my so called "diatribe" listed and his most of the offensive remarks were removed.
What does whizzing, urinals, being "HOT" or a couple others have to do with the OP original question......if NOTHING...then why are they still there.
No admonishment...no nothing....at least you in the past have done that....was it because it was ...GGGGGGG
eralbert - Posted - 03/07/2012: 22:36:57
Bill,
Thanks for the e-mail...it didn't answer my question...but please answer my last post here.....why were those things reviewed by you and other MODS according to your e-mail to me, and nothing done about it.....
You can't chastise the small guys and let the others off.

To the mods: Many thanks for performing your thankless task, day in and day out. I can't imagine what this site would be like if there were no mods.

I volunteered to mod during my first couple years here...was never asked; and now, a few years later, I'm very glad nobody took me up on my offer.

I've been on sites with mods and sites with no mods. It's an inexact science, but all in all I prefer the mods.
