Well, she'll be 20 next month, time sure does fly, she is in nursing school. I told her that when she gets out and gets a job that she'll make more money in a year than her mother and I make put togeather in a year, which will probably be pretty close

I retired from the AF. I'm early 50's. I thought about going back to work, but the band is doing pretty good. I'll ride that train as long as it keeps going. My daughter is grown, and my house is paid off, so that helps.
OM45GE - Posted - 02/17/2011: 11:49:10
Cogratulations man, you earned it!
dat - Posted - 02/17/2011: 12:12:28
my brother had planned on retiring untill they told him that they would transfer him back to OK city, it just happened to be where he built a house before he was stationed in England
OM45GE - Posted - 02/17/2011: 12:27:08
Didn't he like England?
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/17/2011: 13:22:27
I plan to die young so I don't need to retire.
OM45GE - Posted - 02/17/2011: 13:25:12
The Social Security Administration appreciates your efforts!
1four5 - Posted - 02/17/2011: 14:26:00
I really thought hard about staying in, to do so, I would have had to transfer to Ok City. They gave me a retirement offer I couldn't refuse. It would have broke my heart to leave my band and payed-for house... so I took the retirement. The last 3 years (playing music full time) has been a dream come true. No matter what happens now, at least I know what it's like to live my dream.

he did, but he had been there 4 years and has been stationed all over the world, he was ready to go home
OM45GE - Posted - 02/17/2011: 16:11:06
I see. as Dorothy said: There's no place like home, there's no place like home...
1four5 - Posted - 02/17/2011: 17:14:44
We hear that a lot in Kansas...
OM45GE - Posted - 02/18/2011: 03:48:48
Do you hear it from Kansans looking to come home or folks from outside looking to get out?
dat - Posted - 02/18/2011: 05:52:24
or looking to go pheasant hunting maby?
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/18/2011: 05:52:52
I was in Kansas City for a conference on 9/11. There were a lot of people who ended up stuck there when all the planes were grounded. When they were saying "There's no place like home" most of them were trying to figure out how to get home from Kansas.
I think almost everyone who was at the conference with me ended up renting cars and carpooling. There were four of us from the DC area that drove home together. That was a long drive.
dat - Posted - 02/18/2011: 07:30:56
ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!!!! did ya'll have plenty of beer?
1four5 - Posted - 02/18/2011: 08:01:05
The people in Kansas are the best I've ever met. I'm from Michigan and my wife is from Maine. She even spent 10 years in Florida. We decided to stay here after I retired, because of our friends. There's also very few "critters" and big bugs comparitively.
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/18/2011: 10:08:50
I wouldn't mind moving back to the midwest someday.
Although the horses out here are pretty great.
I need to find me a dude ranch. Where I can get me a dude.
1four5 - Posted - 02/18/2011: 10:23:51
There's a lot of dudes in kansas, and lots of horses.
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/18/2011: 11:10:58
Can I come live with you?
1four5 - Posted - 02/18/2011: 11:50:09
You would have to compete with 4 dogs and two cats for room on the spare bed... if you brought your animals, it would be quite interesting! Our across the street dude lives by himself ever since his psyco wife left 3 years ago. I could ask him if he has a room available? We also have a dude down the street who is single. He is a truck driver for Science Diet, and gives us free dog cookie samples a lot.
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/18/2011: 13:03:43
Wow. You know some real charmers.
dat - Posted - 02/18/2011: 13:21:14
Go for the truck driver, they stay gone a lot so he won't really interfear with your personal time and you'll be in a fine spot to get some free samples, or damaged bags of dogfood
1four5 - Posted - 02/18/2011: 17:38:17
And he has a big fenced in back yard. Did I mention we live along a golf course?
OM45GE - Posted - 02/19/2011: 04:43:07
Do you have to watch for flying golf balls?
1four5 - Posted - 02/19/2011: 06:27:31
All the time! I find them in my gutters when I clean them!
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/19/2011: 18:29:14
My younger sister used to love flying kites. Then one day she was flying her kite at a local school. It was spring break. She got hit in the head with a golf ball (some other kid was practicing his golf) and ended up in the hospital with a concussion. On the second day of spring break. I was in Chicago and came home to my dad telling me she was in the hospital. She didn't much enjoy that spring break.
The worst of it was that by the time she went back to school she didn't have a shiner anymore so no one really understood how much she had suffered.
1four5 - Posted - 02/19/2011: 19:34:19
golfers can be big a-holes. Leaving beer cans and bottles everywhere. And it's not unusual to see some jerk peeing in the bushes behind the green. They've broken windows in the neighborhood, and then run. And there are big signs on the course that they are laible for any damages. And they can be loud. I wich I had a nickle for every drunk that's yelled "GET IN THE F****** HOLE!"
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/20/2011: 09:38:24
I have a basketball court across the street from me. It can get a little rowdy. And since my house is on the corner, it's a natural spot for people to dump their trash as they walk by.
1four5 - Posted - 02/20/2011: 12:06:49
Are there ever any cute basketball players?
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/20/2011: 15:06:57
I don't know about cute. But there are some extremely attractive ones.
1four5 - Posted - 02/20/2011: 17:48:27
Ever though about being a cheerleader?
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/20/2011: 19:01:02
Only when I'm very, very drunk....
Actually not even then. Really, I'm not the cheerleader type.
1four5 - Posted - 02/21/2011: 01:11:56
How about volunteering to be the ref?
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/21/2011: 06:33:47
I could just sit on a bench and cheer.
OM45GE - Posted - 02/21/2011: 06:52:15
Sounds like fun.
1four5 - Posted - 02/21/2011: 10:57:00
Do you ever watch the games from home with binoculars?

What?! That would be like stalking! I would never.....
OM45GE - Posted - 02/21/2011: 12:14:34
Celery stalk?
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/21/2011: 12:28:56
Blech. Celery is evil. I mean, how can anything have negative calories?! It's like imaginary numbers and thumbscrews--something that someone thought up when they were in a bad mood (probably pmsing or maybe mercury was in retrograde) to torture the world.
1four5 - Posted - 02/21/2011: 13:55:00
I have to agree, celery is unfood
OM45GE - Posted - 02/22/2011: 03:27:32
How can you have ants on a log without celery?!?
dat - Posted - 02/22/2011: 05:47:09
I like celery, it's good sauteed with onions and butter
1four5 - Posted - 02/22/2011: 07:08:48
I like pepperoni pizza, it's good with coke
dat - Posted - 02/22/2011: 08:33:45
and garlic bead and lots of butter
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/22/2011: 09:22:44
I like Coke. I drink way too much of it.
dat - Posted - 02/22/2011: 10:07:04
I don't mind coke as long as it's diluted with a little something, it's pretty stout by it's self
1four5 - Posted - 02/22/2011: 10:41:27
Oh you just had to mention garlic bread... now I'm starving...
dat - Posted - 02/22/2011: 10:43:53
garlic bread plenty of butter and a little cheese melted on top
I just ate some fried chicken, mustard greens and rice and gravy, the last of the weekend leftovers
1four5 - Posted - 02/22/2011: 11:04:46
Maybe Jennifer could hook up with a Coke delivery stud
