I couldn't imagine 20 below, I've been duck hunting when it was 15 above zero and it was cold then
OM45GE - Posted - 08/03/2011: 11:12:41
I've ridden my motorcycle at 10 F.

ya got pictures? kittens are cute, then they grow into cats
1four5 - Posted - 08/03/2011: 13:04:09
Our dogs don't do so well with little fuzzy snack-like kittys
dat - Posted - 08/03/2011: 13:09:02
MY OLD LAB LOVED CATS. specially when they got close to the house, he had one treed before dark and it was a stalemate all night 'till the cat tried to jump out and make a run for it, the cat didn't see sun up. that old dog never tried to eat them or tear them up, he just shook them once or twice then left them alone, a raccoon he had to shake two or three times, but they were dead all the same
1four5 - Posted - 08/03/2011: 13:16:58
The raccoons around are about as big as a lab! They are coming out a lot more during the day now...looking for water
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 08/03/2011: 16:40:22
We had a drought here a few years back, when I was at my old apartment, and there were lots of deer coming real close to my complex looking for water. I surprised a few out walking the dog.
I thought about putting a bucket out for them but figured someone would steal it and I'd have no buckets.
OM45GE - Posted - 08/04/2011: 03:56:28
My Springer loves cats. They just don't find him amusing and it usually ends badly.
dat - Posted - 08/04/2011: 05:24:37
for the dog or the cats?
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 08/04/2011: 06:16:52
I got the kittens because my youngest cat (Zigamaboo) is still very playful and is driving the other cats nuts chasing them and such. But so far Zigamaboo is not real excited about the new additions. Last night I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and she came running up the stairs to say hi and one of the kittens came down the hall at the same time and she stopped dead and growled and hissed and finally made a mad dash to get into the bathroom with me, where she then did a whole lot more hisses and growling when she realized she was now cornered.
Fun times.
Cute guy said hi to me this morning and held the door.
1four5 - Posted - 08/04/2011: 07:32:55
Good for cute guy!!! That deserves a heart shaped box of chocolates!
dat - Posted - 08/04/2011: 07:37:39
grilled hamburgers and a six pack sitting on the tailgate of the truck at the lake next
1four5 - Posted - 08/04/2011: 07:48:53
Then a weekend painting the house
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 08/04/2011: 11:49:49
I wonder if he knows anything about getting rid of stumps. I have two I need to deal with.
dat - Posted - 08/04/2011: 13:13:19
burn them, pout a whole bag of charcoal in the center and light it, let is smolder and it'll burn a lot of it out, well if there wasn't a burn ban
1four5 - Posted - 08/04/2011: 16:40:47
Put an ornamental flower pot on them

hell has no fury like momma cat
1four5 - Posted - 08/05/2011: 09:59:45
Or a cornered racoon
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 08/05/2011: 12:10:57
Or a bear. Did you hear about those kids that were attacked out on that wilderness survival trip a week or so ago?
dat - Posted - 08/05/2011: 14:56:30
my bride was feeding the black bears biscuits last time we went to Arkansas, I kept telling her not to, but she listens to me about as well as I do her
1four5 - Posted - 08/05/2011: 15:59:21
One thing I like about Kansas... no bears...
OM45GE - Posted - 08/05/2011: 16:51:21
Lions and tigers and bears - Oh my!
1four5 - Posted - 08/05/2011: 16:58:11
I'm still looking for the flying monkeys
OM45GE - Posted - 08/05/2011: 16:59:11
Are you saying it doesn't look like Kansas anymore?
1four5 - Posted - 08/05/2011: 17:49:58
If it's not flatter than a pancake...it's not Kansas
OM45GE - Posted - 08/05/2011: 17:52:15
Back before they had cruise control in trucks I had a stick I would wedge between the bottom of the dash and the throttle that would hold it floored. I called it my Kansas stick.
1four5 - Posted - 08/05/2011: 17:59:50
They finally raised our speed limit to 70 just last month!
OM45GE - Posted - 08/05/2011: 18:01:12
That old truck would need a good tailwind to do 70.
1four5 - Posted - 08/05/2011: 19:39:46
In Kansas that would mean going North East...
OM45GE - Posted - 08/06/2011: 04:02:44
That would be on the homebound leg for me.
1four5 - Posted - 08/06/2011: 08:34:11
Or you could just stop and make Kansas your home...
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 08/06/2011: 16:54:28
I could make Kansas my home. First I gotta find a job. And before that I need to finish this project I'm working on. But in like a year or so, I could maybe think about it.
Although Oklahoma is also sounding kind of appealing these days.
OM45GE - Posted - 08/06/2011: 18:47:59
I don't know Dean, you're posts about the weather haven't made it sound too tempting.
1four5 - Posted - 08/06/2011: 19:33:39
It's beautiful here. 50's at night, 70's during the day... year round. Never stormy or windy. I don't know where the news keeps coming up with all this hoopla about being hot...
OM45GE - Posted - 08/07/2011: 07:17:58
Is that the latest positive mental attitude exercise?
1four5 - Posted - 08/07/2011: 08:10:33
We have palm trees and clean beaches and clear blue water and hot babes in string bikinis and shirtless hunky dudes all over the place.
OM45GE - Posted - 08/07/2011: 08:11:21
I'll be right there!
1four5 - Posted - 08/07/2011: 10:21:44
Just be forewarned that the hoola dancers are too skinny and don't wear enough when they dance. Also the beer always seems to be too cold, and the BBQ joints always serve too much food. But, that's just Kansas...
OM45GE - Posted - 08/07/2011: 12:32:55
Thanks for the warnings Dean. I'll try to temper my expectations.

It's 70 most places on the highways here, but they've compensated nicely by placing unexpected 15 mile long "Work Zones" every time you start to get comfortable.
mike
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 08/08/2011: 05:49:21
Most places around here it's around 55 but everyone drives 75.
OM45GE - Posted - 08/08/2011: 06:40:04
If you keep it down to 75 around here you need to keep an eye on the rearview mirror.
dat - Posted - 08/08/2011: 07:13:18
I try not to drive any faster than I think, I don't get to 55 often
1four5 - Posted - 08/08/2011: 07:28:15
55 is about as fast as my old station wagon will go. If I turn the AC off.
dat - Posted - 08/08/2011: 08:12:29
THE WAY IT HAS BEEN, YOU SURE DON'T NEED TO TURN OFF THE AC
1four5 - Posted - 08/08/2011: 10:12:58
I put 40 psi in the tires so it will roll better...
OM45GE - Posted - 08/08/2011: 10:55:49
I only drive downhill to save on gas.
