glad they got it, let it set for a few days in the sun and it'll give the dogs something to roll in

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/07/2011:  06:35:46

I put it in the trash.  Second trash pick up of the week is Thursday.  So it should have a couple of good days to stink up the trash can.

dat - Posted - 06/07/2011:  06:52:15

My lab would always find something nice to roll in, then come up wiggling all over wanting to share, the more he had on him the more friendly he was and tried to get close

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/07/2011:  07:57:04

Jackie used to like to snack in the litter box and then would be all excited and come and belch in my face.

dat - Posted - 06/07/2011:  08:49:33

dogs can be so thoughtful and sharing

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/07/2011:  09:26:05

You should have seen her the day she found a whole deer leg.  She came running up with it in her mouth and her tail was up and her ears were up and she had this expression on her face like "check out what I got!!!!"

And then she saw me and the expression on my face and her tail went down and her ears went back and she was like "oh crap, I screwed up."

I always felt a little bad about that.

1four5 - Posted - 06/07/2011:  09:58:03

We had to put our litter boxes in a dog free zone in the basement.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/07/2011:  10:58:15

I'm still trying to make my litter boxes "dog free".  Mr. Quimby can't really jump very high, so I can't put them behind a tall barrier.  Anything that he can crawl under, though, the little dog can also crawl usually crawl under.

I know that Mr. Quimby can jump a small child gate, but that was with the motivation of FOOD on the other side of the gate.  I'm a little concerned if I put a child gate in the door to where the litter boxes are that he would simply decide to use something else (like my laundry basket).

FOOD is a big motivator for him.

My Border Collie that is my avatar, used to wait until the Siamese was in the covered litter box, and when the cat's business was nicely underway, Abby (the BC) would go up to the box, and try to roll it around the room with the cat inside--good times are always to be had at my house......................I  miss that dog......she was too smart for her own good.

I got an email yesterday that the woman who has been boarding my horse is shutting down and I need to find someplace new for him.

I think I might have found someplace that is only about $100 more a month and is really close to where I live.  I'm crossing my fingers that this works out.

dat - Posted - 06/07/2011:  12:50:14

Closer could be worth 100.00, you'll probably get to spend more time with the horse

Do you have a spare room? Then you could be REALLY close!  big

dat - Posted - 06/08/2011:  07:01:59

you have a yard don't you, turn him loose in the neighborhood, keep a bail of hay on your back porch

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/08/2011:  07:02:51

Part of me wishes I could have him that close.  But there's a more realistic part of me that realizes that I've done my time taking care of horses--getting up early, no weekends free, no vacations....

I like boarding him someplace.

1four5 - Posted - 06/08/2011:  07:15:12

I don't think basketball players would pee in your yard if there was a horse there looking for carrots to chomp on.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/08/2011:  07:26:49

True.

dat - Posted - 06/08/2011:  12:55:36

sometimes I wish we didn't have any animals to take care of, the yard birds I can fill up their feeder and the water jug and it'll last about 3 to 4 days, the dogs and the horse need attention daily, our neighbor down the road has a key to our house and he or his wife will come down and feed for a weekend, but sometime I would like to just take off without having to plan it out and ask for somebody to help, just load up and go 'till I ran out of gas and money then come home on a credit card

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/08/2011:  13:09:32

I hear you.  I love my critters, but sometimes they're a lot of work.

It could be worse, I suppose.  I could have children.  At least I can leave the dogs at home in a crate during the day or if I go out for an evening.

dat - Posted - 06/08/2011:  13:14:07

you can do that with kids tooclown

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/08/2011:  13:19:27

CPS must love you! tongue

dat - Posted - 06/08/2011:  14:15:44

they are usually scared to come back that far in the woods

and we let the kids wear shoes in the winter, what more could they ask for

I wouldn't trade my 4 dogs, 2 cats and 2 birds for anything. They keep people I don't like from coming over, and they are a perfect excuse to not have to go visit anyone more than a couple hours away.

dat - Posted - 06/09/2011:  05:48:09

I don't care much for visiting people, but Yellowstone, Colorado,  Yosemite, Mt. Rushmoore, Arkansas, Texas hill country, Smokey mountians,  Shenandoah National park, any of those I would like to spend some time looking at

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/09/2011:  06:41:03

Last night I went to put a couple more things in the trash......

shock  blackeye

Yeah, so sitting in a trash can in 98 degrees was not kind to the dead rat.  I think I'm gonna need to sterilize my trash can tonight.  I feel for the trash dudes when they pick up today.

dat - Posted - 06/09/2011:  06:59:33

an alluring aroma I'm sure

1four5 - Posted - 06/09/2011:  07:41:30

I can't afford to go visiting tourist places. I just have to trust what I see on the internet. Besides, I got to see plenty playing war games in my career

dat - Posted - 06/09/2011:  07:46:07

I can't afford it either, so far I haven't seen many, but i still dream about going

1four5 - Posted - 06/09/2011:  16:17:47

Besides, I hate crowds, hate to fly... and hate long distance driving even worse. Sort of like NASCAR. Why go to a race only to see cars wizz by once a lap... when I can watch all the action on HDTV, in my air conditioned home, only steps away from the bathroom and fridge. A good Discovery channel show about Yellowstone, and I'm good to go on that.

OM45GE - Posted - 06/09/2011:  18:29:28

I've got the travel bug. I used to have to travel a lot on business too. We've been to Australia, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean as well as around the US. The only problem is that I HATE what flying has turned into. What a hassle! I would quit altogether except that I have a 10 year old son and I want to expose him to as many experiences as I can.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/10/2011:  05:50:13

I'm agoraphobic.  It's not as bad as it could be, but I definitely have a lot of fears about traveling, especially overseas and even more to countries where I don't speak the language.

On my trip to New Orleans recently I didn't do anything in the way of sightseeing after my day at the conference was over.  I didn't even leave the restaurant for dinner.

I really need someone else on a trip with me to motivate me to get out and do things.

1four5 - Posted - 06/10/2011:  07:09:07

Where do you think Cute guy would want to take you?

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/10/2011:  07:18:20

Well, last year he went to Greece...

dat - Posted - 06/10/2011:  08:20:40

I like to see new places, bad thing is the first trip you don't really know what there is to do or how to get to the exciting stuff, the second trip you already kinda know where the stuff is to see and do. then it's time to go somewhere else.   we haven't hardly left the house much this year, usually our trips are just long weekend trips maby once or twice a year, hopefully close driving, well 5 or 6 hours is about all we try to drive.

according to google map, it's 12 hours from my house to Texline Texas, so that doesn't even get us out of the state if we drive west, north to Arkansas is 3 and a half hours to the boarder, so south west Arkansas is a nice drive.  only an hour and a half driving east to the Louisiana border, but must of it is about like around our house. 3hree hours south to the beach, but I don't really care to go to Galveston. must of the time we go north

A friend of mine emailed a couple days ago to ask if I wanted to meet her at a time share condo she and her husband have in Gatlinburg.  I can't make it in July (which is when she was originally planning) but she said we could maybe try for later in the fall.  I'm hoping I can sneak away for a long weekend in September with her.

Part of me is like "What's there and why would I want to go?"  And then I'm telling myself, "Don't be stupid--go!  A weekend away, and someplace you've never been.  Do it!"

I have to check to make sure I have time off available.

dat - Posted - 06/10/2011:  12:02:01

do, it, Gatlinburg is definatly a tourist town, but once you get out of town it is nice scenery

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/10/2011:  12:23:49

Yeah.  She said she mostly gets out of town and goes hiking or whatever.

dat - Posted - 06/10/2011:  12:49:39

I bought a Confederate flag there when I was about 14 or 15, it is hanging in my barn right now, I would like to go back with my bride, she hasn't ever been. we traveled a lot when I was young.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/10/2011:  13:23:17

I'm not really the Confederate flag type.

dat - Posted - 06/10/2011:  14:35:18

it is worth going for the out side of town stuff, I like the mountians though,

1four5 - Posted - 06/10/2011:  17:07:50

Every time I went somewhere new, I would always get a new tattoo.

OM45GE - Posted - 06/11/2011:  07:36:01

I'd be covered instead of the few I have.

We're going to Jamaica later this year. I've got enough frequent flyer miles from business trips and purchases to fly the three of us first class.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 06/11/2011:  08:49:14

I'm going on a cruise to Mexico with my parents and younger sister in November.  I'm tense enough about spending part of a day onshore in Mexico that I'm thinking about taking a Spanish class.

I'd like to go to Australia.

1four5 - Posted - 06/11/2011:  12:55:48

If I went to Austrailia, I would never come back. It has crossed my mind.

OM45GE - Posted - 06/13/2011:  04:10:40

We used to have a good friend in Sydney - since passed away - and visit him a few times. It is definitely my favorite city. The beaches are incredible, the culture open and friendly and you can sail and ride motorcycles year round, He even offered us jobs about 10 years ago. We decided it was just too far away from friends and aging parents.

dat - Posted - 06/13/2011:  05:56:29

Australia would be nice, maby one day

1four5 - Posted - 06/13/2011:  07:49:03

OM45GE - Posted - 06/13/2011:  12:43:02

Are you saying we talk funny in New England?
