What's the saying about youth being wasted on the young?

I can't remember

They say the memory is the second thing to go as we get older. I can't remember what the first is.

I hate the saggymanboob syndrome. So I do a bunch of pushups. But then I'm sore for a week. You can't win.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/14/2011:  14:00:03

Actually, it passed and I ate a chocolate cupcake. Yum.

dat - Posted - 03/14/2011:  14:10:54

I just ate a bag of chips, I guess I got over it quicker than I thought

OM45GE - Posted - 03/14/2011:  14:12:58

Nothin like the munchies to cure a bad mental image.

I'm going out for Pappa John's tonight. Gotta add some pepperoni to my skinnyflat old man butt

dat - Posted - 03/14/2011:  14:51:06

I think I'm gonna grill some hamburgers, since the time changed, I'll have enough daylight to do something outside when I get home tonight

1four5 - Posted - 03/14/2011:  17:15:54

I'm stuffed

dat - Posted - 03/15/2011:  05:45:56

We've been grilling year round. I had three feet of snow on the deck but used the snowblower to clear it off enough to grill.

dat - Posted - 03/15/2011:  07:29:45

we grill most every weekend, it's nice to have a little daylight in the evening when I get home to grill during the week

OM45GE - Posted - 03/15/2011:  08:02:39

It does seem nicer to have the sun up. I've got the grill under a porch light and it's not the same.

I wear the helmet I used to wear when I put out forest fires. It's got a light on it.

The old Nomex fireproof jacket comes in handy sometimes, too.

I would say most of Texas, but you never know about Austin, that place is getting more strange by the day

OM45GE - Posted - 03/16/2011:  13:18:11

I think most of us Massachusetts folks would feel at home there!

dat - Posted - 03/16/2011:  14:23:18

I have some family from up around there, he was a as a representative of New Hampshire.
Mathew Thornton, I believe he was one of the last to sign the Declaration of Independence, didn't get to him 'till November 19, 1776

Talk about coincidences - my father's family used to own Mathew Thornton's desk. They said it was the one he signed on and talked about how long it took for the Declaration to make its way around the colonies. The desk got sold when my Grandmother died. I have no idea where it is now.

1four5 - Posted - 03/17/2011:  07:59:01

If only a desk could talk

OM45GE - Posted - 03/17/2011:  08:22:39

True indeed.

My hair is getting long. I'm almost a hippy. Should I get it cut, or is long hair back in style? How about some John Lennon glasses?

I'd say keep it.
'Course, I just got mine cut off. I do that when warm weather hits. Naturally, as soon as I did, it snowed.
I'll start growing it back in August. Right now, I look like a Federal Agent. A very stylish Federal Agent, but a Federal Agent nonetheless.

I used to wear mine very long - past my shoulders. Now it seems like too much work and I keep it short.

dat - Posted - 03/17/2011:  14:10:25

mine is cut with a 1.5 clipper blade on the sides and back, then the top isn't much longer with just enough to comb to the side on the front, every once in a while I let it get long, but if it gets to a half inch or so on the sides and back, it's time for the barber shop

OM45GE - Posted - 03/17/2011:  14:19:46

I do a 2 on the sides and then blend the top in. I can comb it over with my fingers and I don't get helmet head on the motorcycles.

dat - Posted - 03/17/2011:  14:25:54

I've thought about shaving it all off, but my head is too knotty and scarred up

1four5 - Posted - 03/17/2011:  15:08:47

In the 70's we all had long hair. Then I joined the military and had a buzz cut my whole career. I used to dream about letting it grow again, now I get the chance.

dat - Posted - 03/17/2011:  15:18:50

my brother said when he retires he'll even let his nose hairs grow as long as they can

1four5 - Posted - 03/17/2011:  15:29:27

will you tell him if he has a booger clinker?

OM45GE - Posted - 03/17/2011:  16:27:26

I've never grown a beard in my entire life... maybe that's next... na, my wife would kill me...

dat - Posted - 03/18/2011:  05:38:33

my bride almost killed me when I shaved my 'stach, I've had it for more than 20 years except for that one time that I trimmed it crooked and cut it off

OM45GE - Posted - 03/18/2011:  07:28:58

I had a facial hair of one sort or another for over 20 years. When my son was about four he told me he wanted me to look like a real dad and shave my beard. I waited a week and asked him if he liked my beard and he repeaded the "real dad" thing. I shaved it off and when I came out of the bathroom he held out his arms and said "I LOVE it, give me a kiss!" It's been six years now and I'm still clean shaven.

1four5 - Posted - 03/18/2011:  09:10:02

My wife would love it if i shaved my mustache off. I grew it when I retired... and she said "what it that dirt on your lip..."

OM45GE - Posted - 03/18/2011:  10:07:08

Even though he's only ten, my son was talking about when HE grew a beard. I asked if we would look good with both of us having them and he still said he wanted me to look like a real dad and not have a beard. I can't figure it out.
