I am restoring a prewar banjo with a spun tension ring with no groove and no notches. I am trying to replace the tension hooks, but I cannot seem to find the right ones for this type of ring anywhere. They hook completely over the tension ring. Any advice on where to find these. I'd like to keep it as stock as possible so avoiding completely replacing the tension ring and hardware would be ideal. Thanks!

I have a Tarpan tenor banjo like that It was made in 1970 in the Czech Republic. It has 30 tensioners (hooks) and are flat where they go round the top of the tension ring. The head is nearly 12 ". It is an exceptionally well made banjo. I dont know if the factory still exist, the only other banjo maker I know of in the Czech Republic is Prucha. I don't know if they had anything to do with each other, but it may be worth a try asking them. There is a picture of it on my website.

Khris, welcome to the Hangout. The only flat type hook I know is the 'cobra' style elderly.com/accessories/items/BA31.htm.
However can you post some photos of the one you want so folk can better ID it?
