For starters Pete is also in the Virginia stringband "Uncle Henry's Favorites" and is a renowned southern style fiddle player and multi-instrumentalist. He makes his living teaching and playing music. This is a big chance to pick up authentic southern style bowing and other tips to really get into that old time groove. Dick is an amazing singer and solid guitar picker- a member of "TheTroublesome Creek Stringband" who released a stellar old time cd on County Records more info albemarleramblers.com/

Banjo workshop description: Bring your banjo - this is a hands on workshop. The first part of the workshop is covering the fundamentals of clawhammer from basic to advanced. It's always great to get back to basics no matter what level you may be at - something I really like doing. We will cover basic stroke, hammer on, pull off, slide, double thumb, drop thumb. Then we will work on a tune or 2 together slowly using these techniques. In a workshop some players may pick up things faster than others - be patient and lets try and work on these together. It's not necessary to play or master every lick or technique- the workshop is an exercise for you to pick up on some things which you will find useful in your everyday playing. I may also delve into chords, playing up the neck, and tunings depending on how the time goes. Lets learn and have some fun doing it!
