Hello all - After spending some time with my new HeliX, I wanted to share my impressions and opinion. My impression is the same today as the day I opened the box -WOW! "HeliX" did an oustanding job on my Midnight Zephyr #004! Rim is Black Walnut, which I ordered as I liked the deeper tone and knock note. A wonderful sound for me and what I use it for. I thoroughly had a blast with the whole process from the first e-mail contact with Larry Hill, the phone calls and delivery. My only problem is that I should have ordered two in different woods! A HeliX is not for everyone. Just as no make banjo is for everyone. My advice - HeliX should be on everyone's investigate list when BAS strikes! I've attached links to my review and a sound byte (that I'm sure I don't do justice too). Laughing at my abilities is acceptable. Photos are on my homepage. I play both my Helix banjos almost exclusively now...the more expensive name brand instruments probably think I've abandon them. Guess I have.
Can't beat the sound, price and enjoyment of owning a Helix (or two)!

Midnight Zephyr #004 has been mine for 4 months now. The more it is played, the better sounding and more powerfull it becomes! I'm still more than totally pleased!
