Jack,
Glad to see the redo of WMB. I thought my ears were playing tricks on me the first time I listened to it. Thanks.
Jeanie

Hi Jeanie, I'm not sure what you mean by the "redo" of WMB but I did change my original posted version and used another version from a live performance by Earl years ago.
The reason is that the Bear Family CD version goes to the V chord after the 8th. measure as a quick turn around where Lester starts his vocal and does the same on the 2nd break.
So, I changed that old version and used a "live performance" version of Earl's which he played at a bluegrass festival in 1965 and played the normal version of the song, ala Kingston Trio, which we are all used to hearing.
Hope you like the final version as my first posted version did not seem right if I wanted it to be an instrumental version....Jack

I first learned this song as done by the Kingston Trio and any other version that I sing now still follows that same chord progression. That's why your first posted version sounded strange. Interesting to hear about the other version--I'll have to listen for it.
Thanks, Jeanie

Hi Jeanie, Yes but that's bluegrass for you. It does what it wants :-)). Bluegrassers often take a Folk song and change it to suit their musical needs...Earl apparently chose to play a more popular version at the Festival and so I changed Earl's earlier version to that version--glad you like it Jeanie...Jack Baker...p.s. if you can get the 2nd Bear Family CD of Flatt and Scruggs, you'll hear the original version they did...
