I'm having trouble finding minor and 7th chords up the neck. Are there standard or base chord shapes (similar to the F & D shapes) that would be moveable up the neck for minors & 7ths?

Didn't notice the post from Captruss earlier today. It gave me what I was looking for!

Hi Gary
I think John Boulding covered a lesson on this a while back on LOTW

Thanks Tam - Any idea what would be the best way to find that?

Yes,there are movable chord shapes for minors. If you know how to make an Am down the neck, you can move it up chromatically by moving up one fret to A#m, Bm, Cm, C#m and so on.
The "most used" minor would probably be the Em at 989 -- as used in Sally Goodin and you can count up from there for an F, G, A and so on minors on up the neck.
Does that help on finding minors?

I think of minor shapes as variations of major forms. 3 basic shapes just as there are with majors.
D shape gets its 1st string flatted for the minor Barre chord gets 2nd string flatted for the minor F shape gets its 3rd string flatted for the minor.

There is a detailed video lesson that includes downloadable printed information. It shows the minor chord shapes in the video and the 7th chord forms in the downloadable material.
