Hi folks,
I just posted details under "Other Banjo Related Topics" on the BHO message board regarding this upcoming workshop, featuring Bill Emerson, one of the greatest Scruggs style players of all time, to be held in the Washington, DC area on Wednesday, February 3rd.
Bill was a founding member of both the Country Gentlemen and the U. S. Navy Band Country Current as well as an important banjo player with Jimmy Martin in the 1960's. He also was a member of the legendary Country Gentlemen lineup featuring Charlie Waller, Doyle Lawson and Bill Yates.
Check out the other thread for full workshop details. This should be a good one, folks!
Sincerely,
Bill Evans

Bill, that's awesome. Beyond being one of the greatest Scruggs style players of all time, Bill Emerson is also one of the greatest composers on the 5-string banjo. Tuneful tunes like 'Theme Time' and 'Cowboys and Indians' raised the bar significantly (back when they were written) and they're still great tunes today - timeless in fact, still contemporary, which is amazing! Not for nothing, you and Megan went down exceptionally well in Ireland, especially in Galway, where you won new fans, mixed amiably with "the punters" and made new converts to the bluegrass ethos. It was great seeing you in action and hearing about y'all weeks afterwards. (I'm sorry about the bodhrán player who nearly killed the session before passing out. I shouldn't have invited him earlier that day. My bad.) Please send Bill my regards. He is one of the true gentlemen of the banjo.
