I've tasted her pie as well. My God, Don is right. You add in a tall glass of ice cold milk and you got heaven.

My Grandmother's version is basically a pecan pie with chocolate chips under the pecans

My daughter request KD Pie for her birthday every year.

1 cup of Sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 oz. chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup flour
1 stick of melted butter
1 cup of chopped pecans
2 eggs

Mix all ingredients together. Bake in a unbaked pie shell for 30-40 minutes (Depending on your oven) at 325-350 degrees.

The difference in a ho hum KD pie and a great one is in the type of chocolate chips you use, I also add a few more pecans than called for. I ALWAYS use real mexican vanilla.I usually make my own crust but I do use a frozen one from time to time. Enjoy!

In that case I've had it, and I gotta say I like plain pecan pie better. Even better, walnut pie, because the bitterness of the walnuts offsets the excessive sweetness of the other ingredients.

Stellingbelle, we tried your recipe for Thanksgiving dessert. It was a real hit! Thanks.

My wife makes these. I,m pretty sure its about like stellingbelles recipe. To me its seems more like a chess pie with lots of chocolate chips and nuts mixed in. They sure are good with a hot cup of coffee
