Ive had an annoying cough for 2 months a dry cough with a scratchy throat. Its starting to get me worried and I dont like paying Dr. bills.
steve davis - Posted - 11/20/2009: 05:13:57
You should see a doctor now or the bills could be much greater the more you wait.

I have the Katrina Illness (It is a true sickness, that the people who was stuck in Katrina in MS) So yes I cough all the time. Nothing can be done about it, as far as they can tell it will be with us for the rest of our lives. And probably shorten it to.

Dennis-----I'd heed Steve's advice. A two month-long cough is worth a trip to the doc, unless there's some obvious explanation------like you've been drinking a pint of bourbon and smoking five or six cigars every day.

I've been coughing for a week. But 2 months? Go to Doc.
pandjlocke - Posted - 11/20/2009: 07:29:40
Prolonged cough isn't anything to mess with. Go see your Dr. I do agree that medical bills suck, but sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet. I've just forked over a ton of money (on my pastor's advice, "Don't be an idiot. Get your stubborn butt to a doctor!") from the swine flu turned to pneumonia turned to chest "inflammation". Dr. bills, antibiotics and an inhaler that cost $90! Sheesh. But, it's only money. You go to work and get more of that. Gotta have your health.

Why are you even asking people on a Banjo forum? Good grief, man, call a doctor!
Louisiana Rose - Posted - 11/20/2009: 08:03:05
You're a fool not to have already seen a doctor, I have been on antibiotics for a week now and I have to go back at 4.40 today because the coughing is getting worse, you should not play games with your health, at the end of the day, how will your family cope fi nancially if you become seriously ill because you neglected your health now

About 10 days before my father died on October 22 - I came down with a mild cold that gave me a cough and sinusitis. I took a 10 day course of antibiotic that cleared it up almost completely but I figured what little was left I'd get over on my own.
About two weeks ago, however, I got what seemed like the same cold all over again. This time the sinusitis came roaring back like I've never had it before - I was coughing up masses of green gunk. I went back to the doctor and they put me on a 14 day course of a stronger antibiotic. It's pretty much cleared up now - but to answer your question: Yes - I've had a cough since mid October
JedNeedsCoffee - Posted - 11/20/2009: 10:12:14
You SHOULD see a doc. If you're worried about the money or you don't have medical insurance you might consider one of those "same day"/walk-in" clinics. Around here, they have them and it's only about $65 to $95 for a visit. (cost of any tests is another story though) but if you don't see to it now it might REALLY cost you in the long run.

Phew! I'm glad we don't have to worry about doctors and hospital bills in the UK, I have a son who's on dialysis three times a week, and I have heart problems, so worrying about healthcare bills wouldn't help us both one bit.

Yeah but we don't have to worry about living lives of abject misery under the iron heel of socialism.

Yep. Sinus trouble. I cough terribly some mornings, but not all. It levels off later in the morning after about an hour, but for awhile...wow. Not infection, as it's a clear mucus. Just plain old sinus drainage doing it's thing. Weather can effect it. It's probably some kind of allergy, but not bad enough for me to take any meds. Most meds I am alergic to anyway. They would make the situation worse.
ps. Loved your reply Brian.

If you're going to be coughing like that for months on end, at least don't go out in public!

Well you could always get treatment for depression........provided you haven't lost your job and can afford it of course.

There is nothing in what I wrote that I would consider or intend to be offensive in any way, I am now thoroughly confused

Sorry Rose - I'm joking with you - nothing you wrote was offensive in any way. I'll PM you as delicately as possible

Mine has been going on three weeks. The last time I tried to make a Dr. appointment, it was 2 1/2 weeks before I could get in. I really thought it would be gone by now. I guess i'll give it another week.

Why are you still talking to a banjo forum about this??? Go see a doctor NOW. And insist they take chest x-rays while you're at it. Oh, and just to light a fire under your backside, a old co-worker of mine, a retired Army warrant officer, complained of similar symptoms and was subsequently diagnosed with cancer. A year-and-a-half of chemo and radiation treatments and, well, he left behind a widow and two sons. And he waited to see a doctor, just like you're doing, if you can believe that. Alarmed? Good! The sooner you get a handle on exactly what’s ailing you, the better. If it’s nothing serious, than you’ll be rewarded with the peace of mind that comes with knowing. On the other hand, if it’s something bad, more often than not time is of the essence. Now get your rear-end into the doctor's office!!
BConk - Posted - 11/21/2009: 19:17:48
Yeah - and don't forget to take your linctus!
