I like my supervisor okay, but I sure as heck wouldn't want to be married to her.
dat - Posted - 11/18/2009: 12:58:01
I'm sure glad that you don't want to marry your supervisor lady

That's just what Ace said. What a coincidence!

Lynne is just being a copycat

My best friend when I was three was also named Jennifer, so we decided we were parrots and would go around repeating everything that people said.
We were probably really annoying.
dat - Posted - 11/18/2009: 15:13:30
probably so, I'm still annoying according to my bride, but I have fun
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/18/2009: 15:19:58
Having fun is important.
dat - Posted - 11/18/2009: 15:22:24
it is, my nephew races the jr dragster cars. I go see him sometimes. he asked a while back if I missed having fun at the track and I told him that I do have fun at the track, but I have fun everywhere I go. I sure try to anyway

Having fun is important. Having fun is important. Having fun is important. Having fun is important.

My brother's parrot swore a lot

One of my roommates years ago had an African Grey. Every night my roommate would call the dogs into his room when he went to bed. Not two days after he got the bird, I was trying to take a nap. One of the dogs started barking and I yelled, "Indy!" And suddenly I heard that bird saying "Indy, BenBen, JuJu, in the room, in the room!"
He'd learned the dogs names and how to call them into the bedroom in two days!
He also learned to imitate the fax machine, the answering machine, the telephone ringing, etc. I heard from my friend recently and he said the bird was imitating the trash truck backing up.

I can identify! Did you know starlings can talk? we have two rescued pet starlings. They know their names, they mimmic the TV, my banjo, they bark and meow, squeek like the door, sneeze, and tell us to "go to sleep" whenever we turn the lights out... as well as a handfull of other popular phrases my wife and I use. Yeah, I said starlings. Run of the mill starlings. the most bratty, personality filled, entertaining, appreciative, loving, funny birds I've ever had. They fell out of their nest before they even had feathers. My wife raised them on cat food (which they still live on) One is 5 years old and the other is 3 now.

I remember you mentioning that you'd raised them. I don't remember you mentioning they can talk. That's pretty cool.
1four5 - Posted - 11/18/2009: 19:17:12
They never shut up! If there is light, they are at it! They love watching TV and carryone on with whatever is on

musicman93 - Posted - 11/18/2009: 19:59:26
Dean, how do your birds mimic your banjo
1four5 - Posted - 11/19/2009: 02:55:20
I would call it more like a wratchet sound. When I start playing they start "wratchet chirping" at a pretty good BPM. Same note though... sort of like a mono-roll. Then my dog howls when I play slide...when I get them all going at once it's hard to play because I'm laughing so hard. I keep telling my wife we need to get some video and send it to AFV
Louisiana Rose - Posted - 11/19/2009: 03:50:20
That's amazing, you learn something new every day

I had a roommate who had a great parrot who talked up a storm but also mimiced the telephone ringing. You could never tell whether it was a real call coming in or the darn bird. I swear she did it just to make fools of us.
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/19/2009: 05:55:17
My roommate's bird was like that. I just stopped answering the phone. It was usually for him anyway.
dat - Posted - 11/19/2009: 06:39:05
Mornin all ya'll bird lovers
dat - Posted - 11/19/2009: 06:39:38
I like birds too, but usually grilled or baked

So I noticed the last couple of days that my car was running a little funny. So this morning I decided to check the oil.
You know, it runs much better with oil.
dat - Posted - 11/19/2009: 06:48:15
oil is a wonderfull thing
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/19/2009: 06:49:52
Lubrication makes the world go round!
1four5 - Posted - 11/19/2009: 08:50:12
I better check mine
dat - Posted - 11/19/2009: 09:03:26
I need to change mine, I've got my brides and daughters changed last week, now I need to get mine
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/19/2009: 09:04:49
Have fun!
JackJack - Posted - 11/19/2009: 09:50:54
Do you change your own oil, or take it to a lube shop? I take mine in, mostly because I don't have a place to dump the old oil.
Just in case anybody wanted to know.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/19/2009: 10:10:43
I think I basically changed mine. I mean, there wasn't any oil. I added some. When you change your oil don't you basically drain it and add more?
I suppose I shouldn't be out, though.
dat - Posted - 11/19/2009: 10:13:47
I change my own, I dump it here at the shop. there are several recycle domp stations for used oil here in town though
dat - Posted - 11/19/2009: 10:17:17
'Niffer, as long as you put new oil in it, it would be a good time to change the filter. actually changing the filter often does better than changing the oil. if you have one that leaks or burns oil and you have to add oil often, you could probably get away with just changing the filter
JackJack - Posted - 11/19/2009: 10:57:16
My mechanic told me that they take all the old oil, transmission fluid, brake, etc.. fluids, and dump them in one big barrel. Then someone comes picks up the barrel when it's full and then the mixture becomes train fuel.
Now that's recycling!

dat - Posted - 11/19/2009: 11:02:32
we have somebody thatcomes by and picks up ours, they used to pay us per gallon, then the price started going down and down, then they started charging us to haul it off, they still sell it for fuel after they get it from us

That's good to know. Guess I need to figure out how to do the filter thing. I also noticed as I got back from my meeting right now that one of my lights is out. Time to make a trip to the auto parts place next door.
JackJack - Posted - 11/19/2009: 12:54:59
I'm gonna take a walk and get a diet coke. Anybody need anything?

1four5 - Posted - 11/19/2009: 12:55:01
I don't work on my stuff anymore. I used to build hot rods, and spent 30 years fixing airplanes. Ba Humbug. I can't justify the aggrivation... when I can just bring it to my friends at the garage, and drink coffee and watch TV, and let them get dirty.
I used to HATE spending all weekend wallowing in the dirt making 15 trips to the auto parts store and renting special stupid tools just to keep my vehicals running. Small things always turned into big things, and you never had the right part or tool. Now I have a garage full of crap I'll never use or need.

That's kind of how I feel about my horse. I did plenty of years cleaning stalls and dealing with nasty weather and early mornings. Now I'm just as happy to have someone else care for him and let me just enjoy the fun parts.

Good attitude!

Going to see Robbie in concert tonight!

JackJack - Posted - 11/19/2009: 14:09:45
How many times have you seen him? Like 35, 40 times?

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/19/2009: 14:45:34
Alone? Or including with his band?
JackJack - Posted - 11/19/2009: 14:49:43
All together.

1four5 - Posted - 11/19/2009: 19:47:06
I have the same question...
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/19/2009: 20:13:12
Robbie Schaefer.
And I've seen him maybe 6 times solo and probably that many times with his band, Eddie From Ohio.
1four5 - Posted - 11/20/2009: 02:40:43
What kind of music?
