Hi Folks,

Back from my latest Airstream rescue trip and realizing that the Early Registration Discount deadline is coming up soon. Registrations have already started coming in so don't be left out in the "cold" - literally! Warm spot again this winter as camp is set for San Diego. I'm working on special hotel rates at a very cool old place near the site.

http://clawcamp.com/ for the latest and to download a registration form.

Anyone who can get to Clawcamp should do it. It will improve your playing and your understanding of old time music and OT banjo in particular. Dan and Jennifer are wonderful teachers and worth whatever effort it takes to get there. Go for it!!

also, if you wanted to do it at any point in the winter i bet dusty strings would be willing to host
it in seattle. also, i would be willing to find those with less money places to stay. some folks could
even stay at my house if they were comfortable with couches and floors and what not. i'd also help
promote it. just out of curiousity how many folks do you usually have to fill up a clawcamp?

10 makes it happen, 15 makes it full, 20 adds another teacher. Dusty Strings is not interested in my concept, and it is a bit of a conflict with them since they do their own events (ie, need to be in charge and take a significant share running it as their event). Not a complaint, just how it is. Also doesn't allow for any residential component.

Other thoughts good, Booger but perhaps a bit large for us and my latest polls show that camping is not preferred.

All good thoughts though. I've had some success in past years with restaurants and cafe's with conference rooms, and even rv parks. I'll keep a pokin some. Small colleges?

BUT in the meanwhile, consider the weather in San D this winter!

dan,
you and i should talk. i can definitely figure out a venue.
worst case scenario, we could even do it in the basement of my house.
i would love to make this happen. i'm curious about why dusty strings
is not interested in your concept? they sell your book. in fact
that's where i got it and it was recommended by one of the folks
who works there. anyway, we should really make this happen!
i'm sure we could get 10-20 no problem. when would you be interested
in doing it?

Elliott Bay Bookstore in Seattle has a wonderful downstairs cafe and performance room (they do book readings there all the time). That might be a good venue. Either way, keep me posted if you decide to do a Clawcamp NW--I'll be there!
