I painted the picture as a Christmas present for my brother. The Hell Rooster is an old family joke.
I used it as an avatar mostly because it has a lot of loud color. For a while, I tried some others, but folks here seemed to miss the Hell Rooster, so it became permanent.

Because I know that guy over there<<<<. We have the same mother and father. I've been thinking of changing it though as I am getting grayer.

My surreal life occupation goes hand in hand with my musical pre-occupation.

I saw this photo and just couldn't resist the expression on the fiddler's (Gaylean Houston) face.... there's a guy you don't want to mess with. I'm also an Old Time fan... so it just worked for me.

o.k. I'll confess. After reviewing the above 3 pages, there's an obvious need for a real handsome dude, so until such time as he shows up, I'll fill in.

I ran across this 45 year old photo of myself a month or two ago, and it fascinated me. I found myself wondering, "Where did that kid go? Who did he become?" That probably sounds goofy, but that's why I replaced that picture of my beloved lap steel with the one here.

I made this sandwich one day and I thought it was avatar worthy.

This is a favorite pic of me sitting on Smiley Burnette's (Frog) lap taken in the early 50's. I have great memories from the 50's when times were simpler, safer and kids were raised with manners and morals. I loved watching all the westerns on our black-n-white TV and Frog was the famous sidekick of Gene Autry and Roy Rodgers.

I have no really cool banjo pics, I have no pics of myself, but I DID have a really cool pic of my ancesteral family badge from Scotland. I am an American mutt, but the family name had a cool badge....Hawk on Stork (killing the stork more likely) I read somewhere that it is a representation of the fact that they were fishermen and the hawk represented their ability to outfish mother nature or something of the like......and I am in the fishing business.....now that i have bored you all to death.........Next!

I think I'm the last surviving holdover from the infamous "squirrel" threads (ancient BHO history).

Besides, Rocket J. Squirrel has always been one of my heros.

I think I'm the last surviving holdover from the infamous "squirrel" threads (ancient BHO history).

I helped write the originals with miss muppet, one day I'd write a situation, next day she would take it over where I left off, pretty soon everyone joined in, that was a fun time indeed..

My avatar reflects my best pal, of course!

My avitar is a genuine reasonable facsimile. Otherwise, I'd have been tempted to touch it up a little first.

I can get 'er up to 120.... but any more than that and I'm gonna be roadkill on the bluegrass highway.

This is a little wire guy playing the banjo my friend John made for me. He has one at his shop I always used to look at, so he made one for me one day.

by the time I took the picture off the wall, took it out the frame, scanned it into the computer, tried to find where it went in the computer!! and finally reached it's destination as my latest avatar, I thought I'd give it a while there but maybe change it sometime soon for something more musical

Mine used to be a picture of a locomotive (I'm a train buff) but being a scrimshaw artist I decided to change it to an example of one of my custom truss rod covers that I make. Visit my homepage to see more examples of my work.

Mine is just a picture of me picking my banjo (back in my skinnier days). Besides, life truly is very good.

(This thread will become very confusing in a few days/weeks when folks have changed their avatars, and their descriptions no longer match what you see on your screen.)

Because I love my newly aquired used ShopSmith lathe... I've wanted (needed) one sooooo.... loooonnnnnggggg! It works so much better than my home made, washing machine motor driven, lawn mower deck shafted, plywood structured thing I called a lathe, that I used in the past!

I have been cowboying for 59 years and am quite at home in the saddle. Training cutting horses has paid for my banjos.
