I just finished a new banjo build over the weekend and I finished one a couple months ago that I didn't report to you all.

They're both tackheads pretty similar in construction. Aesthetics and wood choices are the only differences.

If you're interested, here's the one I just finished: http://www.deepcreekstrings.com/200...d-no-13.html

I got Frank Lee to play a short bit on it. If you'd like to hear that you can go to it directly here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbB_CzjuCJQ (I also posted int he BHO media section)

Here's the one I finished a couple months ago. It was a builders trade for a Daddy Mojo Cigar Box Guitar: http://www.deepcreekstrings.com/200...o-trade.html

All comments and questions are welcomed.

Thanks for all the past support,

Jeff

As usual, great looking and great sounding banjos, Jeff. Excellent job.

Do you build your necks from one solid piece? I have toyed around with building a cigar box banjo, and I like how your dowel rod also serves to attach the tailpiece.

Cheers!

Beautiful look and sound! How does the internal tensioning system work?

Delfield - Posted - 11/10/2009:  06:47:16

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the compliments.

Viper - my tackheads are two pieces. There's a laminate to create the heal, which continues on the be the dowl and tailpiece holder.

Ira - I got the idea for the internal tensioning from bodhran construction. They're called tuners in a bodhran, but banjos already have things called tuners so I call it the "internal tensioning system." See this photo for an example: http://shop1.actinicexpress.co.uk/s...3__1____.jpg
