Anyone have preferences,or experience with more than one of these tuners? I found these Grovers here, pretty cheap:

I have never owned any of these tuners and am just trying to get the best tuners for my money.
Thanks ya'll!!

Gotoh by far, they are smooth and solid.

I agree that the Gotoh's are probably the smoothest. Waverly's are pretty good also. I've never tried the Grovers or 5 stars.

I'm skeptical of Grovers and Schallers. 5-Stars and Waverlys are internally the same, and quite good. I've never used Gotohs, but they have a fine reputation. I've always used 5-stars because I've been able to spend less for them.

Five stars are good and can be had used for a little less than many other brands.

Hatfield music has the Gotoh for $90.00, well worth it.

The Gotohs on my RK are great. Butter-smooth - stays in tune.
The Schallers on my Ome are good, but not quite as good as the Gotohs.
On one banjo I have a 5-star fifth peg - which works very well. But it isnt planetary, so I guess it doesnt count.

Thanks for all the advice ya'll. Im going to go with the Gotoh's. Incidentally, the cheapest place I've found them is from Smakula Stringed Instruments, $60.00 for 4,and 10bucks for the 5th peg!

I use Gotohs for the peghead but I like the 5 Star 5th tuner as the shaft size is bigger and matches the other 4 tuners. It makes it easier to swap buttons if someone wants something different.
