True jam sessions are really hard to find. Most of the ones in our area have turned into sessions that more resemble an "open mic" affair which tends to run off newbies. By newbies I refer to those who are just beginners in their banjo journey or those who have never played with others (Pete Wernick refers to these as "closet pickers").
