On Monday I played on stage in front of about 150 people, it went great, all this practice has finally paid off, I'm getting so comfortable with this instrument I no longer dread the fumble finger syndrome. I was accompanied by a bass a guitar and a really good vocalist which really helped. Three songs, one in Db, one in B and the last in F. Played the F uncapoed. I'm really enjoying this!!

I usually play keyboard with this group but they heard me playing my banjo and insisted I do a few tunes. Two of the songs were original tunes written by the singer and now as an added bonus she wants me to lay down some banjo tracks on a cd she's in the process of making, all original material, I'm honoured by that for sure.

Once you get your first taste of it, you always want more.
Odds are that your next gig, something will go haywire and you'll wonder what in hell you were thinking. It happens. But get back on that horse! I've been performing in one way or another for roughly 40 years, and I daresay that in all that time there's never been a perfect performance. I daresay, in fact, that my most recent performances in a bluegrass band contain more mistakes per show than just about anything else I've done (then again, stuff happens FAST on a banjo, dontcha know).
But there's something about getting out there in front of other people and having a great time - and seeing THEM have a great time. It's a blast.
