I really like that one, but I'm afraid it would be outside my budget which is somewhere around $40.00 bucks.
I know you get what you pay for, but if ya aint got it to pay with....you know the rest of the story.
thanks so much for taking the time to post that.

Mmm . . . I like the looks of the Boker that Lee posted. How about this canoe model -- it has rounded ends which would be kinder to your pocket, and the price is closer to the amount in your pocketbook:

Swiss Army (Victorinox) Officer model. Lost one. Had to replace it within 48 hrs (what a peculiar naked sort of feeling without it.) Lost another, found it in the crack below a chair cushion.
My brother gave me a Leatherman "Squirt." I travel quite a bit, together with one of the SA knives, it travels in my suitcase.

I've got one of them Camillus Air Force switchblades too - orange handles - with the hook blade. My dad gave it to me years ago. He used to carry it with him when he was a firefighter. "Defender of the Sacred Cod" Capio pisces, ergo sum

I carried a Case Yellow Handle Trapper for years, then it mysteriously disappeared, so I ordered another of the same model from the company. The workmanship, especially the fit and finish, on the new one was inferior to the original in a number of very obvious ways and it looked as though the bean counters were in charge of quality control.
I eventually found my old knife in one of my wife's jacket pockets, cleaned it up and gave her the new one, which she then promptly lost.

The giving / taking of a knife is considered bad luck, in as much as it will cause the severing of the friendship between the giver and the receiver. Therefore, the exchange of a knife for money, no matter how small, will apparently prevent such bad luck.
But more importantly, who believes such bad luck / good luck stories these days?

I just rememebered the last time anybody gave me a knife. My son in law gave me a Wusthof 8" Santoku for Christmas of 2005. By Christmas of 2006 he and my daughter were separated
Play it safe Sam - just before you hand your dad the box - have him give you a penny

The Greeks at one time though by giving someone a knife it would "cut" the relationship so a knives were never given, they were traded for something so it wasn't a gift. Thank you, "Count" Hugh "I bent over him, and tried to find any sign of life, but in vain." -- Jonathan Harker, Dracula

The Boker Whittler (one blade on right two on left) KE posted would be a good one or the Boker Canoe shown a few posts earlier would be good. You may want to find the knife you want and then go to Ebay and see if you can find it. You should be able to buy a nice knife for a bout 40-50% off retail from and on'line dealer or through Ebay.
Quite frankly, if it were me I would try and find a NOS (new old stock) knife from the 50's or 60's, as they generally have much better steel, sharpern better, and stay sharp longer. Some of the new exotic stainless steels are fine, but they are hard to sharpen. Good luck!
