I generally don't read the comics but yesterday I was reading Gasoline Alley. In the strip a charecter was putting letters on a theater marquis. In the background was a small sign: Coming Soon Ralph Stanley and The Clinch Mountain Boys.

Yep. . . I met Jim the first time I went to Galax, 1986. Jim also did the cover illustration for the Huber Banjos "Cuppa 'Jo" CD a few years back.

Several years ago Gasoline Alley had several strips that had John Hartford playin both banjo and fiddle. I saw John down at Nashcamp in '99 and asked him how that came to be.He said the fella who wrote the strip came and photographed him playing. In the strip,he was dancing and playin at the same time, just as he did in real life. I thought it was very cool.Wish I'd have cut them out and saved em. I suppose that was in the mid 90's.
