With my new banjo purchase, I've made it a point to listen to find and listen to more music (not all banjo-oriented necessarily.) It's funny how so many things in life are determined by timing. I've listened to Todd Snider a time or two in the past and it never grabbed me. However, I downloaded a couple of albums lately and am just knocked out by the wit and creativity of his songwriting. I also love the ramschackle nature or his recordings, too. (I'm listening to The Excitement Plan and Peace Queer lately.) Any other Snider fans out there?

Big fan here!
Seen him about 4 times --even took my mom to one--, he's totally witty and hilarious, and a pretty nice guy. We even asked him to come out to a BBQ. Do you have his live album Near Truths and Hotel Rooms? It's worth checking out for his live whimsical performance and stories.

Ha! I love that Just In Case. Reminds me of friends who got married three weeks ago and sang John Prine's In Spite of Ourselves during the ceremony just before exchanging vows.

I've heard Todd introduce Beer Run by saying,"I wrote this a few years back and then, a couple months later, a couple of guys from Nashville wrote it again." Just the other day I heard Garth Brooks and George Jones do their version of Beer Run which, though not the same song, does have the line ,"B-double E-double R-U-N, Beer Run," lifted right out of Todd's song.

'Near Truths' is one of my all-time favorite recordings.
