I am interested in buying a Tranjo for when I travel on busniess. Has anyone else tried one of these. I would love to try one out but have not found anyone in the Lexington, KY area that has one.

Had one, found it easy to use, handy to take on trips, and overall a good buy.

Sam Farris who builds the Tranjo is a member here. I am sure he would be glad to answer any questions.

Yeah I have been talking to Sam about it. Was hopeing that I could find someone up here in Lexington that had one they would demo for me. I love the idea of the tranjo but would love to see one before I throw down $800 for one.

I realize $800 is a big amount to most folks. Please check out my new Tranjo Express model which is priced starting at $350. It's just as playable as a regular Tranjo but the body construction is simplified to reduce labor and parts costs. It uses an imported neck made by Gold Tone. www.tranjo.com/txpictures.html for details. The unofficial release was yesterday - that's the topic Jazzylynne referenced above.

Hi Sam how are you. The Express looks great and at 350.00 should be a winner.

You should send one to Bill Knopf and see if he will make a video playing it- like the 2 videos he did with your Tranjo. Which were totally cool. ---------------------------------------------- "A life lived in fear is a life half lived." - Fran, "Strictly Ballroom" (1992)

I have no connection with Sam, but I want to offer the follwing:
I was able to pick up an actual Tranjo out of the BHO classifieds a little while back for a great price. I was looking for something I could travel with and mess around with at the house. All I can say is WOW!! Mine is an older model and the workmanship is excellent. It has really held up for what ever age it is. I had previously purchased a Plucky and actually sold it the same day I got it. It can barely be described as a toy. DEFINITELY not made for a man's fingers on the fretboard at any position. I also dabbled in making a five string out of a four string uke. Same general issue, much higher quality than a Plucky, but impossible to properly fret and forget about up the neck. Back to the Tranjo. Take my advice and get one. You will not be sorry. I find myself picking it up when I have a few minutes to pick before I go out the door when I don't have time to get out my TB3. Has greatly increased my practice time since I can take it anywhere. Sorry for the rambling, but if you get the chance to try one, please do. I think it will surprise you...
