My 28 Granada and my 31 Ford pickup are probably worth about the same.

But just like banjos, if you buy a stock, nice banjo for $2000, and put a $1000 tonering in it, add a $600+ rim, fancy bridge etc., you can't add all that on top of the price of the banjo were you to sell it. It is not now a $3000+ banjo.

I really like Toyota trucks...and I've got enough invested in my '83 to have bought a late 90's Tacoma...but still, it's probably not worth much more than $2000 if I sold it. So...while my truck is kind of a "beater" and maybe only worth as much as my banjo, I'd still say I'm a "car guy".

That's a good lookin ol' truck son... if it runs good and the 4wd werks it's easily a $2k to $2500 truck :p

Well guys.. I'm in the car busines and we have had a new car dealership for 34 years and I got to tell you... Banjo's are a way better investment lol.... I PROMISE.... "would I lie to you!?!?!?!?!?!?!?"

There is a heck of allot of difference in the "retail" price and "wholesale or loan" value on a vehicle than there is on a banjo... Big difference.. So don't be too hard on your banjo value

I am proudly in this club though. My banjer is bound to be worth more than my 99 Grand Prix GTP hehe... Hey I take Banjos on trade!!!! lol... (this is not solicitation mods )

I bought my Chrystler Lebaron for 1500, and just bought a Gibson RB-250 for 1800. Now you see which is more important to me =)

I've got two banjos that are worth more than *some* of the cars I've owned. And with 190K miles on my Impala, it's drifting towards that category also.

Now that my Honda CRV (2003) is about to be 7 years old (and still in great shape), I think my Gabriella is probably worth more. My custom GDL may be close to it's value.

I bought a new Deering Sierra a couple of years back. This autumn, the tire-shop guys told me that my '91 Chev Caprice wagon had such a badly rusted frame that
a) if I hit a BIG pothole, the front end might fold up and
b) they wouldn't be able to jack it up one more time to put the winter wheels & tires on.

I got the princely sum of $66.00 from the auto wreckers, mag wheels, gas and all.
I must be the winner.

I have a nice Pontiac Vibe -- maybe it's more valuable since Pontiac has gone away? But, without doubt, our instruments are more valuable than the car (or Whyteman's pick-up).

Here's a picture of our Music Parlor. You can just see a few members of our string family.

Out of view are our guitars (five total, but who's counting?) and three fiddles and one upright baby grand from 1900.
Yeah, we definitely have put more into our instruments than we have into our vehicles. But we have more fun with the instruments than the vehicles.

Reading these it sorta makes me think of my stuff and a twist to the old commercial: 1947 Jeep: $600.00. 1998 Dodge V-10 4x4: $10,000.00. 2006 Charger RT: $16,000.00. 1929 Gibson Granada (or any other banjo you enjoy): Priceless.

Sorry, all. Apparently when you use the back arrow (to go back to the forum) it resubmits your post. At least it does on a Mac.

I have several Tonka toy cars that are worth far less combined than my banjo...
