OK everyone. I'm going to let a few banjos go. I just bought a new Prucha Diamond Point, and a new Osborne Chief. No games here. All are GREAT banjos. You will think that any of them are brand new.

I'm so confused. I have read many of your posts praising the Yates as your "go to" banjo and nothing compares to it. It is now for sale because a Prucha and a Chief replaced it? Darn those banjos must be good. Argh! What am I to think now?...
No wonder I get so frustrated trying to follow who is buying what and why.
Seriously, good luck with your sales and your new banjos. It must be a beaut!!

Phil, The most important thing to do is listen to what different banjo pickers are saying about their banjos, (pros & cons)and take it all in stride. Process all that information and then when you decide to buy a banjo, play as many different makes & models you can and let your ears do the buying for you. Buy the banjo that sounds best to You! not what sounds good to someone else. Good Luck, Brian

I don't know why anyone would sell a Yates RS either. Everyone one I heard was a hoss

Hey orioletb1 and Phil. What can I say? I like good banjos.
I was like a kid in a candy store at IBMA recently. I'm looking at buying or trading for one or two more banjos. You can argue all day about what banjo is best, or better than others, but when you are comparing the banjos that I own to each other, you change your mind every time you pick one of them up. That's a good problem to have. If these banjos sell, or if I trade them off, fine. If not, that's fine, too. If I let my Yates go, I may be sorry...In that case I'll just have to get Warren to make me another one. One thing's for sure...you can't accuse me of blind brand loyalty!! I haven't met a good banjo, or luthier yet that I didn't like!
If you want one of these banjos, you better speak up, before someone else buys them, I trade them, or just decide to insure a few more! My wife is glad that my mid-life (hopefully!) crisis has been buying expensive banjos, and not something a whole lot worse....
We all brought nothing into this world, and its certain that we will take nothing out.........At least, I'm yet to see the first U-haul behind a hearse. So, I say buy, sell, trade, enjoy!! Try to minimize your regrets, what ifs, and what might have beens. Tomorrow may not come, and 50 years from now, nobody will give a rat's behind!

...and that right there gets my vote for the "Best Response of the Month". It certainly answers all the debate about "why buy a prewar...or a Huber...or a Yates"
Bravo BD!!!

Well said from everyone!! Honestly, I haven't been able to attend one of the big events to try out all of the current wares. I am actually afraid that if I did, I would be in the same spot you are. Too many great banjos out there to try out and eventually own. Have to admit, that Yates is a tempting ad...
I love the U-haul comment. Made me laugh at the computer!

Well here is the banjo comparison you put together including the Yates. The Yates is clear and sounds great. For less than400.00 you can upgrade your RS to the new rim and tone ring. I did and is is just a killer banjo. My suggestion is that you not be too hasty about selling the Yates. The difference is claer in the taste test you did. Minimal overtones, clear notes and pre-war sound.

The Stelling has been traded, and ships out Monday.
The Yates and Nechville are still available.

The Phantom is sold, pending receipt of funds.
If the Yates doesn't go quick, I'm keeping it!

Day late and a dollar short, the story of my life...
Ah well, I have a new RS in the works and am dying to get my hands on it. AND, I already have a Yates Rattlesnake! Didn't think it could get any better till I went to Warrens shop and played his RS...
Don't know if any of the others could be any better, but don't see how. I am a Yates man for life.. I'll see how many I can collect before I run out of time!
Hmm.. there must be something around here I can sell to get this one too...
