I tried to look a little and didn't dig anything up although I'll admit I didn't look real hard (time constraints) but is this worth me pursuing? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...:BCA:US:1123 I really like it, it "smells" vintage frome here hehe... I like the felt and stuff but is that "V" been punched out by somebody else or is it factory like he's saying, just very rare ? Thanks in advance,

Wow, that looks like a pretty crude job to me. the edges still appear to be curled. I doubt that a press wold do that. However, I know nothing about the vintage Gibsons or attachments....

Check out the seller, a hangout member here and a very respected banjo player. I would have no problem with this one.

Here is Richie's original post a few days ago in this forum. I have seen them on Bowties too http://www.banjohangout.org/forum/t...IC_ID=158729

Richie is a very helpful soul and a fine player. His web site is one of the best.

The only place I've ever seen these is on bowtie Gibsons. Richie is A-1.

I have had two early 60's Bowties with that tailpiece on them.

Richie is a good man and excellent luthier. If he says it, that's good enough for me...

Same tailpiece as on Clarence Ashley's RB-250.

John Stewart of the Kingston Trio had one of those tailpieces on his RB-180 in the 60's.
